Scouts register for their class with the merit badge counselor and pay the class fee on-site.  Cash only accepted.

Session I:  9am – 11:30 am  (Classes close at 9:15 am)

PLEASE NOTE:  CAMOUFLAGE, SWEATS AND T-SHIRTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AND YOU WILL BE SENT HOME. COMPLETE UNIFORMS ONLY.

All scouts attending Merit Badge day must have blue cards signed by their Scoutmaster.  Scouts will not be able to attend the class if they do not have this signed blue card.

COIN  COLLECTING : (Read the Merit Badge pamphlet).  

Scouts must phone at least five days before MB day @ 714-519-5485 Arline Gerard-Prentice. No parents, friends nor siblings should call…just the scouts, themselves!

Six Collect and show your counselor five different quarters you have acquired from circulation from the 1999-2008  50 State Quarters Program.   Seven Collect from circulation a set of currently circulating U.S. coins. Include one coin of each denomination (cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar, and any example of a dollar coin). For each coin, locate the mint marks, if any, and designer’s initials, if any.  Nine Do any one of #9, either A, B, C, or D. Bring the items with you. Note: If you do NOT have a coin collection, then 9-D is easiest, but remember it is a SET of the SAME denomination of coin!   HINT: Easiest “same denomination” means all pennies for each of your years.   Ten-D  Do drawings of FIVE Colonial-era U.S. coins (Coins made before 1776). Draw the FRONT and the BACK of the FIVE coins. Bring all TEN of your drawings.

GARDENING

 One-A & B Grow six vegetables and six flowers (three from seeds and three from seedlings), through harvesting/flowering. Make a log of your plantings, and take pictures of the results. Bring your log of your plantings, and the pictures of your results.   Three  Test 100 seeds for germination. Plant 100 grass (or other) seeds in a container. Bring it in, or bring a picture. Count the sprouts after approximately three weeks. Log your results.   Four  Visit a nursery.  Be ready to Report on what you learned at your visit.   Six- A, B, C, or D  Build and maintain for 90 days: a compost bin; or a vermipost bin; or a hydroponic garden; or a water garden. Take and bring pictures.
